Day 61: Animation

Fixed more shots, today and finally did that damn popcorn explosion that was driving everybody nuts to animate

Day 60: Animation

Today I worked on fixing up the poses and animation for some other people's shots - getting everything looking nice and on model

Day 59: Animation

Today I finished that electrocution shot!!

not sure about the electricity effect, but I love how everything came out!!

I spent the rest of the day inbetweening one of leigh's shots, and putting it more on model

Day 58: Animation and edit

I fixed the issues and uploaded the edit as per my own deadline - I also animated the shot where Ares gets electrocuted.

The perspective looks pretty cool with the flat look, Also the actual electrocution is looking crazy - I love electrocuting my characters!! I'll finish that tomorrow, as well as another shot or two and I'll gif the electrocuting animation because it's hilarious and my group is going to love it!!

Day 57: After Effects and Music Update

Today I finished a shot, completely - it's all composed and everything, I've written up instructions on what I used in After Effects, to put the finishing touches on it. This will work as our look frame.... 'bout time we got that done, huh?

I also fixed the pacing - but unfortunately there were exporting troubles, and I cannot get Premier to co-operate.

Update on the music - I got an e-mail back from the musician - he said the time to make it is fine, and he loves the idea, but we need to negotiate a price - I will spend tomorrow making that new edit to send to the musician, along with any additional information, to help him out.

Day 56: Background and Clean up

Kinda bit off more than i could chew, today - I edited the animatic again, to show to the music guy, but I think i should wait until Monday, when I've fixed the pacing issues - the short goes way too fast - I'm going to add a crazy amount of pauses to make it more clear and give the audience a chance to actually process whats going on.

I was going to fix the pacing today, but underestimated my next task - instead of doing just a background, I'm making that look frame, finally - I am using this shot, below to show how the final product will look like - the animation is all cleaned and the backgrounds and background characters are all done, I just need to design their planets and then compose it in after effects

I don't want any crazy soft shading or fancy special effects - this is a cartoon, and it will remain as such. I do, however, have an idea of putting drop shadows on all the characters, to it gives it a more cel animation look to it

Day 55: Animation

Finished another 3 shots, today

I'm beat

Day 54: Animation - Scene 1 completed

I started today by finishing yesterday's shots - I also fixed up the animatic from yesterday and then I stayed late to adjust and finish other people's shots - Scene 1 is completely animated!!

Day 53: Animation

Today I helped make a new updated Animatic (do we still call it that?? It's mostly animated now), I made a timing chart for Kirsty or someone else to inbetween, I finished the  shot from yesterday and the one after it, where Ares says "the what...?" while trying to block Horrace's light from his eyes and Lastly I started a new shot - Anubis and Centeotl are animated, I just need to finish animating Nezha rambling - I have a voice clip of Kirsty talking about her voice auditions so I thought it's be funny to have Nezha talking about Ares's voice actor auditions - very meta!!

And yes. Anubis is drinking a mummified cat tomb like a juice box.

Day 52: animation

Finally completed Ares's animation from this shot, of him grabbing Centeol by the mouth, did the keys and most inbetweens for Horrace's part of the shot - just needs some tweeking and tweening and this shot will be done at long last!!

Day 51: Animation

Currently working on two really long and rather complicated shots - it's taking even longer since flash likes to teach me about the importance of saving regularly...

Day 50: Animation

Animating Ares and Centeotl, mostly just getting the keys on model, though - I'll get someone else to finish it off, for me, once I prepare the timing charts and what not, but I did some of the breaks, inbetweens and lip-syncing already.

Day 49: Eyes... Lotsa Eyes!!

The morning was spent animating an extreme close up of Ares's eyes looking at the Centeotl planet - For the rest of the day, I teamed up with Cheyenne, who painstakingly created the swirly effects for the eyes, as I redrew the pose - We ended the day by composing the two in the flash file, and all was good with the world.

Day 48: Animation and Backgrounds

Today, I worked on 2 shots - I fully inbetweened the book's shot and just drew more on model keys for the "they're happy!?... they're eating corn!? is that a statue of-" shots.
Not entirely sure how i'm going to make him act on the extreme close up, there

I also edited the background of the 4th scene, where the corn hits the window and spins around - I made it more like Kirsty's layout, where it showed Nezha and Anubis (which means I get to design their planets too!!)

Day 47: Animation and Prop Design

I tried something a little different, today - since we all used to make our own animations, I never needed timing charts or anything, but today I went back to my roots, and did the keys and timing charts, so someone else can do the breaks and inbetweens

I also animated another shot, involving the first background character to be animated, Aphrodite. That's fully inbetweened and everything

I did a little work on Centeotl's planet, it's coming along - it also has a bit of animation for the weat and corn feilds blowing in the breeze - but it still looks a bit bare

Day 46: Animation, Voice Acting and Prop Designs

Did one shot, today - the super cute one!!! That's all inbetweened and everything

I tried to do another shot, but I realized I needed the planets to continue, so I made this!!
It's Ares's planet of pain - I started Centeotl's corn farm planet, but it was far from done, so I haven't included it, here - I'll finish that on monday

Kirsty and myself also got Ares's voice actor, Jono, to do some sound effect voices like being hit and stuff - mostly for safety reasons. We also got Horrace's voice actor, Craig, to do one line that we missed during his recording session. I'll be editing those in the weekend

Day 45: Animation and Background Prop Designs

This shot is so complicated!!! I don't like the fact that I spent 3 days on it, so I stayed back late to get all the inbetweens done and dusted!!
Look at that stupid grin.

I also drew up some posters to put in the backgrounds, which everybody all thought was hilarious

Day 44: Animatic update and Animation

Today I helped export every shot, so Leigh could update the animatic, again

I also tried to work on animating Ares for the same shot as yesterday, unfortunatly i was too busy helping everybody else (even a different group heheh) and didn't get all of Ares's keys finished.

Tuesday, 5 May 2015

Day 43: Animation

Today, I finished a quick shot of Centeotl saying his name to the book of Horrace and did all the animation, with the exception of Ares, for the shot of Centeotl being squashed by corn and thrown as a discus - I had fun with the smear frame for that one!!

Sunday, 3 May 2015

Day 42: Animation

Today I decided to steal some people's shots
Here is a cleaned up background, I did, using Cheyenne's gold plate from the establishing shot

I keyed and inbetweened two shots, after that - they could do with some more work, but my main priority is getting it all done - We can do touch up's during clean up, if we have the time.

I decided to upload the second shot I did, since it has all 4 characters - it's a good example to show how they all move in their own ways.
Centeotl is pretty much as many different faces as you can fit into the shot,
Ares has slow movement, if any at all,
Anubis is super choppy - he has no inbetweens,
and Nezha is more flowy and borderline rubber-hose.
